Health,Safety andEnvironmental (HSE)Policy SGSL vision is an Incident and Injury Free workplace, with no harm to people and no damage to the environment. Identification and evaluation of all HSE hazards or aspects and the management of their risks or impacts to acceptable levels. Compliance with all applicable HSE legislation. Prevention of accidents, injuries, and pollution. Intolerance of the conditions and behaviours that contribute to incidents and injuries. Reduction of waste and conservation of resources. Recording and communicating HSE performance throughout the organization. Continual improvement of HSE performance. The company is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace and ensuring that all business activities are conducted in a manner that protects the environment. The aims of this policy shall be achieved at all company locations by adhering to the following principles: The Managing Director and senior management shall visibly uphold the principles of this policy and integrate them throughout the company, while the Board of Directors of SGSL shall regularly review HSE performance.Management and supervisory personnel at each division and location shall be responsible for implementing and maintaining the HSE management system necessary to sustain this policy. Contractors and Subcontractors shall work in accordance with this policy and comply with applicable HSE legislation. Regular HSE audits shall be done to determine conformance to the management system. Every employee, whose work may create a significant HSE impact, shall be trained and held accountable for complying with the policy and related procedures, practices, instructions and rules. Working safely and in an environmentally appropriate manner are conditions of employment. Each employee has a duty to report workplace conditions or practices that pose a safety hazard or threaten the environment and to take reasonable actions to alleviate such risks. Everyone is responsible for recognizing that by risking incident or injury, they are putting in jeopardy what they value and those they care for. Emergency SituationsThe nature and scale of all reasonably foreseeable emergencies, including transport emergencies, shall be identified.
Contractors and SuppliersHSE implications of work performed by third parties shall be considered. Implement procedures for the selection and monitoring of contractors and suppliers and for the supply of information to those parties, to allow them to implement applicable HSE principles to promote the health and safety of their employees. The contractor/supplier shall be required to provide sufficient information and to take all necessary measurements so that the health and safety of all employees is not at risk and that environmental standards are not compromised. The purchase and supply of materials, equipment, and services shall be specified and monitored so that HSE requirements are met. Environmental ImpactsEach SGSL location shall prepare and maintain a location-specific HSE management plan with an environmental section, including an up-to-date assessment of the environmental impact of its activities. This assessment shall take into account, but not be limited to, waste produced and the measures for its disposal, as well as any soil contamination issues and/or any releases of products, materials, or energy. Implement procedures at each SGSL location for the proper management and disposal of wastes and for the maintenance of records of any wastes generated. HSE Performance ReportingAll locations shall have procedures for reporting HSE performance and for investigating and recording all incidents/complaints and for taking appropriate corrective action to avoid recurrence. Records shall be maintained and information and statistics shall be reported to SGSL Corporate and regional HSE Management. AuditingFormal auditing procedures shall be defined and implemented. Deficiencies identified during audits shall be recorded formally, their implications shall be assessed, and corrective actions shall be prioritized. Sustainable DevelopmentThree systems (ecological, social, and economic) shall be considered in all phases of projects. |
